E. Tyler Burton

E. Tyler Burton, an artist who lives and works in Los Angeles and Palm Springs, California recycles found objects and repurposes them into her art. Her work can be found in galleries nationally and internationally, and she has been exhibited at The American Museum of Ceramic Art and the Whyte Museum of Canada.

The series Fossils of the Future reflects on what kind of fossils will be found in the future as humans’ dependency on single use plastics continues to be a prominent part of societal needs. No longer will archaeologists discover fossilized footprints or ferns embedded in layers of rock. Instead, these artifacts will be replaced by the remnants of discarded plastic after hundreds of years with little to no decomposition. Her series consists of hand cast coffee lids, monoliths made of layers of concrete and single use plastic artifacts, and lonely photographs documenting dried up lakes, burnt trees, and trash forged into the dirt.
